Attune Therapy, Inc.

Attune Therapy has beed dedicated to serving the southside of Chicago for the past 23 years. Angela Goudschaal (OT) is passionate about her work and supporting families and their children. The center specialized in using the Greenspan DIR®-Floortime™ approach to children and their families, focusing on the treatment of Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADD, and other developmental issues. Attune Therapy values a team approach to support child’s developmental growth.

We are a developmental, play based center enriching child’s relationships and interactions through understanding their individual and sensory needs.

Bio

My Journey in Occupational Therapy

Angela had a passion working with children and their families since graduating with her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 1998 from Midwestern University. Her first 10 years, she emersed herself in learning about autism, early childhood development, sensory integration, and receiving reflective supervision. She worked at Attune, inc. upon it’s inception in 2002. As an owner, at Attune Therapy, her dedication has been to bring an intimate connection to families and children she sees.

I have had a passion working with children and their families since my first internship working at the Center for Neurdevelopmental Studies in Pheonix, AZ . It was a privilege to meet the founder, Lorna Jeane King, OTR/L FAOTA, and receive nuggets of wisdom. My first week, I was overwhelmed working with nonspeaking children with Autism. Then one moment, I saw the “gleam in the eye” she talked about who was often on flight/ firght mode. This “gleam in the eye” Stanley Greenspan and Serena Weider would talk and write about became a catalyst for continued learning, growth and understanding.

I emersed myself in learning about autism, early childhood development, sensory integration, and receiving reflective supervision. I was additionally blessed to work and be a mentee of Tal Baz, upon Attune, inc. inception in 2002. I continue to grow, cherish past supervisors, Sherri Cawn who taught me how to find my voice as an O.T, Grateful to receive supervision and learn from Beth Osten, another pioneer in DIR, Occupational Therapy and Early Chilldhood development.
